W.L. Norton Sr. established The Norton Agency in 1928 as a real estate and insurance office located in Gainesville, Georgia. As the City of Gainesville prospered, so did The Norton Agency, which quickly grew to serve eight counties across North Georgia with both real estate and insurance expertise. Founded by W.L. Norton, The Norton Agency today is led by grandsons Frank Norton Jr. and Bob Norton, who are hands-on veteran real estate and insurance professionals and involved in the day-to-day activities of the company. The Norton Agency has grown to over 300 employees across 19 offices and is ranked as the largest privately-owned real estate and insurance firm in Georgia – We Are North Georgia.

The Norton Agency provides professional full-service asset management to Hunt Tower, a 40,000 square foot multi-tenant office building located on the square in downtown Gainesville. Hunt Tower, formerly the Arlington Hotel and later Dixie Hunt Hotel, is a historic architectural landmark. Destroyed in the 1936 tornado, The Hunt Hotel was rebuilt and converted to the now six story multi-tenant office building including a ground-floor upscale dining restaurant and piano bar in 1981. Our services include:
- Overseen management of building for several decades
- Maintained building’s unique aesthetic
- Built strong tenant relationships, resulting in little to no vacancy
- Currently executing a multi-phase full building renovation project including: cosmetic building updates, energy efficiency programs, security system upgrades, introduction of outdoor community centric amenities
Medical Arts Properties LTD, a privately held entity, contracted with The Norton Agency over 35 years ago to provide professional full-service asset management to their medical office campus located in Gainesville, Georgia. Our firm executed a strategic business plan to provide a superior landlord and tenant relationship, while overseeing all campus matters. These services include:
- Development and construction of multiple campus expansions, including four buildings and a 3-story parking structure, master planned for long term tenant growth
- Re-positioning of common areas, building entrances and interior atriums
- Overseeing medical office tenant improvement projects
- Minimizing operating expenses and maintaining a Class A campus environment for patients and doctors
In the last 35 years, Medical Arts transitioned from a single medical office building to a four building, state-of-the-art medical campus comprised of 176,725 square feet, with more than 15 doctors offices, 300 physicians and mid-level providers. Along the way, our firm diligently worked with each tenant to ensure compliance with building code and standards, obtaining appropriate building permits, medical building inspection requirements and medical waste disposal per federal, state and local law.
Frank Norton, Jr., CEO/Chairman
Frank Norton, Jr. joined the family business, The Norton Agency, in 1986 after graduating from Georgia Tech and working in Houston and Atlanta for CBRE. He was integral in moving The Norton Agency from $35 million to more than $610 million in annual business volume and from 80 employees to more than 300 employees, as of 2018. With over 40 years in the real estate and insurance business, Frank is able to bring creative, energetic ideas and execution to our clients. Frank lives in Gainesville with his wife and has three adult children, Teddie, Emilie and Tripp.
Bryan Wright, SVP Portfolio Services
Bryan Wright joined The Norton Agency in 2013 as Senior Vice President. With 30 years of commercial real estate experience, Bryan has an extensive background in acquisitions, marketing, sales, leasing, underwriting, construction and value creation. Under his direct leadership, Bryan has liquidated a $110 million commercial real estate debt and equity portfolio, managed a performing and non-performing REO portfolio total over $165 million in asset value, negotiated and closed over $100 million of commercial investments and leased properties and managed a 100-asset portfolio spanning across 8 states. Bryan is a graduate of Georgia State University, resident of Gainesville since 1986 and active member of Rotary Club of Gainesville.
Brent Williams, CCIM, VP Portfolio Management
Brent Williams joined The Norton Agency in 2017 as Vice President. Before joining The Norton Agency, Brent had a notable career working at several of San Diego’s commercial real estate industry’s leading firms, specializing in commercial asset and property management, investment sales and leasing, and lending solutions. His ability to provide clients with strategic solutions while focusing on increasing the client’s overall real estate portfolio value, has earned him professional recognition and the capability to interact with many clientele types. His clients include institutional property owners, financial institutions, commercial real estate developers, national, regional, and local investors and tenants. Brent is a Certified Commercial Investment Member and past Treasurer of the San Diego CCIM Chapter. Brent lives in Gainesville with his wife, Kaley, and daughters, Ruby Jean and Campbell.
